Saw one of these the other day, but I passed him before he stopped anywhere. I always thought the CHMSL was supposed to be above the taillights. Are there any other cars where it’s below them?
(Also, no, I don’t know what that shoe is doing there.)

I think the CHMSL only has to be above a certain height without respect to the other lights, but yeah this looks odd.
A Pontiac Transsport? I don’t even know how long it’s been since I’ve seen one of those!

I can’t really answer your question, but instead I’ll offer a commercial for the Trans Sport from way back in 1990.

I tried googling but only found that now it has to be above the other lights. Maybe originally the law just stated a certain height off the ground.

Some euro/jdm Civic Rs had it down in the diffuser because the wing blocked the original location. It looks like a reverse light but it has red LEDS

I’m not sure I would drive any GM product of that era under those weather conditions.
I exaggerate...but wow. I literally haven’t seen a working Dustbuster in almost a decade.

A hand me down 97 Cavalier was my winter beater for a couple years. Got me through some rough Chicago winters with no issues... Honestly though, I prefer my Grand Marquis as a winter beater.
I thought these were the coolest vans when I was a kid. So much so that I still take pictures of them when I see them.

Yeah, they were a very futuristic departure from the boxes being sold by Chrysler and Ford at the time.
